I remember having that feeling after my gastric Bypass. Actually in the hospital the nurses came around and gave us anti-nausea medicine before the meals came up onto the floor. I said I'm fine... she said wait till you smell the food! It does go away... and if it doesn't you should call the office to speak to a nurse. Good Luck... let us know how you are doing?

I felt really weird drinking water even til this day. Im apx 3weeks post op so I'm learning the ropes as well. I struggle everyday its definetly something to get use to. we just have to take it 1 day at a time. good luck in your journey. each day does get a lil better. the Dr. is def. right take your time n everything you introduce to your body after surgery must be eaten slowly and chew chew chew. Im fortunate to not have had an episode of dumping yet. and I hope I dont experience it. :\

Getting in the fluids is one of the biggest challenges in the beginning. That is why we stress that you MUST WORK AT IT... we have to take small sips and remember to not EAT AND DRINK at SAME TIME.... So... 1/2 hr after we eat....until 1/2 hr before next meal... you should be sipping on your drink. If it's a Protein drink that does count as both Fluid and Protein for the day. For any newbies... don't worry... once you get used to this it becomes second nature!
I like to remind people that part of recovery is supposed to be "Getting Used to the New Eating and Drinking Rules"... so factor that in to your recovery. This way when you do go back to work... you are armed with the proper techniques and carry with you appropriate proteins and fluids. It's really helpfull to journal your foods so you can make sure at the end of each day you have met your protein and fluid requirements.

I lost my message!! Ugh. Anyway, I found that I had a hard time getting liquids down after my gbs 4 months ago...and to an extent, still don't like cold water too much ..... well with ice anyway...I used to love super icy water but it doesn't feel good now...actually I prefer warm liquids like decaf or herbal teas more anyway. Sometimes I still drink Isopure if I'm having a hard day getting food in...I'm very careful about getting my protein! Keep plugging! It gets easier and better!

I'm 4 years out I had the Capella Procedure done and am glad I did! I still have trouble and I know I should have gone back to Dr. I. a loooong time ago- he talked about stretching the opening a bit so food could get through since I still get sick often- however my main point here is an oddity that I wonder if anyone else has noticed. When I eat or drink I'm very aware now of the food going down or through...I don't remember ever noticing this before the surgery lol, has anyone else noticed this at all?
